Gynecologic Surgery

Minimally invasive surgical procedures specifically developed for Gynecologic Surgery employ video cameras and lens systems to provide the surgeon with anatomic visualization within the body during the procedure.

Short incisions are made in the skin and narrow tubes are inserted through the abdominal wall, allowing instruments (including the laparoscope) to be passed through them to perform the surgery. The surgeon is able to view the interior of the abdomen on a video monitor which receives its picture from a video camera attached to the laparoscope. Video cameras and specialized surgical instruments are inserted through other small access incisions in the skin and manipulated by the surgeon for the removal or repair of an organ system.

These procedures are frequently performed in an out-patient facility. Patients generally go home on the same day. Although the surgery often takes longer, risk is minimized since the operation is not open. In addition, many hours of surgical training and specialization result in array of benefits for the patient, including a shorter time in the hospital, less pain and scarring, less blood loss and quicker recovery.

The surgeons at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons are experienced in a variety of procedures:
