Tamer Seckin, M.D.
Ranked among America's Top Surgeons & Gynecologists, Tamer Seckin, MD has established himself internationally over the course of more than two decades as a leading specialist in Advanced Laparoendoscopic Surgery for the treatment of endometriosis and associated pelvic pain pathologies.Dr. Seckin is among a very limited number of accredited gynecologic surgeons in the United States who possess advanced training for the Deep Excision of Endometriosis. Although others perform basic laparoscopic surgery, few have the experience necessary to execute the meticulous techniques required to sharply dissect and remove all disease from superficial to deeply infiltrating and fibrotic. Throughout his career, he has successfully treated thousands of women and girls with endometriosis and associated pelvic pain pathologies; the majority of his patients have experienced long-term relief - and limited to no recurrence of disease.
Dr. Seckin is an active educator and passionate philanthropist who continues to travel the world speaking out and educating others about endometriosis. He has set forth consistent efforts to correct misdiagnoses and raise public awareness for the disease that, although estimated to affect the lives of 176 million women and adolescents, is commonly ignored. Leading extensive research and collaboration with the world's top scientists, women's health professionals and patients, as well as continued outreach and education efforts, Dr. Seckin strives to further develop public knowledge of endometriosis and promote early diagnosis and effective intervention. Through his pioneering efforts, he has lent a voice and sense of urgency to endometriosis.
A NOTES (Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery) Patent Holder, Dr. Seckin has worked with renowned surgeon Harry Reich, MD and pioneered several surgical techniques including the deep excision of endometriosis, bloodless myomectomy for the treatment of fibroids, advances in hysterectomy and oophorectomy, and much more. He has also broken new ground in the use of translational medicine for endometriosis, through the advent of progressive graphical technologies, which are becoming essential tools for healthcare practitioners and researchers alike. Dr. Seckin has also developed and patented various surgical instruments for the exigent excision of endometriosis, as well as authored countless contributions in leading medical publications. He is an Associate Attending Physician & Clinical Instructor at the prestigious Lenox Hill and New York Methodist Hospitals.
A passionate philanthropist, Dr. Seckin is also the President & Medical Director of the Endometriosis Foundation of America (http://www.endofound.org), a top-ranked 501(c)3 charitable advocacy and research organization he co-founded with Padma Lakshmi, the international celebrity and Host of Bravo's Emmy-award winning show, Top Chef. The EFA is dedicated to educating physicians, scientists, researchers, the media and women about the disease and the need for early diagnosis and intervention; additionally, the Foundation supports landmark research efforts on endometriosis and works with the world's top professionals towards advances in the disease.
